Minnesota State House Votes to Put Gay Marriage Ban on Ballot

In a 70 to 62 vote, all but 4 Republicans and 2 Democrats of the Minnesota State House voted to put an amendment in next year’s ballot that would change the state constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman.

Marriage equality supporters rallied outside the building and shouted chants of “Shame” at the Republican supporters of the bill as they exited through the side door.

One woman wrote an email to Tony Cornish, one of the bill’s supporters, using a template provided by the HRC, and his reply can be seen in this screenshot:

Yes, give your right for equal rights a rest and let religion and stubborn adherence to the GOP dogma a rest.
